What are they saying about Tate?

Equally impressive is Tate Clemons, who plays the entire extended Bird family. Clemons steals the show with several memorable characterizations, particularly Nathan's grandparents. She makes each feel like a distinct individual, even while subtly conveying their age. Even more impressive is her ability to switch rapidly among five or six family members during the reunion scenes. Clemons is a strong contender for the hardest-working actor at this year's Fringe.

Early Bird, directed by Jack Fogle

Cincinnati Fringe Festival, June 2026

Early Bird from Jack Fogle and the River Rat Puppet Collective of Cincinnati. No worms were harmed in the making of this play. This show ranks neat the top of this year, and also as one of the sweetest, cutest AND most professionally performed show in my Fringe history! (Believe me...I have a Google Sheet list!!!). Carson Mehlbauer plays Nathan Bird, returning home for the Bird Family Reunion. Problem is Nathan is gay and only his grandpa knows. And in a tour de force performance from Tate Clemons, she plays ALL OTHER CHARACTERS! Ready: Grandpa, Grandma, FIVE different relatives & a neighbor!
Vicki is willing. Portrayed by Tate Clemons, she can't keep her clothes on and plays most of the three acts in elegant, black, lacy undergarments. She's gorgeous! Offstage, Tate plays the inexperienced, empty-headed American actress Brooke Ashton.

Legally Blonde, directed by Tim Perrino

Covedale Center for the Performing Arts, March 2026

Legally Blonde: The Musical also features many CLP regulars, three of which portray the iconic trio of Elle's Delta Nu sisters, Margot (Elena Boyd), Pilar (Tate Clemmons) and Serena (Emma Hunt). They create the perfect trio whose lighthearted antics enthrall audiences with a story that they already know so well.
